Groundwork Kent & Medway is a unique and vibrant charitable organisation. Established in North Kent in 1990, it has gone from strength to strength, delivering over £20 million of environmental improvements.
Local communities are at the heart of our philosophy and by working in partnership we deliver successful and inspirational projects, from play areas to gardening clubs, skate parks to school activities.
Extending our area of work in April 2007 to the whole of Kent, and employing over 25 highly skilled, committed and enthusiastic staff, we believe we can offer a holistic and imaginative approach in addressing local needs.

It’s a Wrap
Groundwork Kent & Medway recently won a tender to support the Community Forum at Bluewater with their Christmas gift wrapping service.
The project will run for 47 days over the Christmas period and will employ over 20 part-time and full-time local people currently searching work. Those employed will be benefit from training in gift wrapping, till use, retail techniques and health and safety.
Once the project has been completed CV training will be provided by Prospects at Groundwork’s Spark IT centre in Swanscombe. It is hoped that armed with a new CV, new skills and increased self confidence these local people will have a better opportunity to find work in the retail sector.
Shoppers at Bluewater will be able to pay to have their presents professionally wrapped by the team to ensure that they steal the show under any Christmas tree this season. All profits from the programme will be put into a community chest overseen by the Community Forum at Bluewater.
Members of local community groups are welcome to volunteer to assist in queue management and providing shoppers with information; those groups that do volunteer will be eligible to apply for funding for local community projects from the community chest upon the projects’ completion.
